I just read a long answer on Quora starting with “I know the answer will raise a lot of criticism […].” In 4 days, 50 views, one vote (mine, an upvote), no comments.

A long and well-thought answer to an important question. But invisible.

Well, you don’t have to worry about criticism, because a couple of trolls is the most you can usually aspire to. You’re nobody and nobody sees you.

You don’t get critics by writing controversial words. You get critics by being visible, especially if you write controversial content.

Don’t expect visibility. Write what you want to write. Play the writer’s part. Then put it in front of the readers. And readers will play the readers’ part.

Worry about visibility, not critics.
