From a humorous point of view I liked your article, but the content is maybe just fine for a novice.

In many important and formal meetings you exchange business cards and you keep them on the table during the meeting for a lot of main reasons. 1) you often have no time to google and remember everyone. 2) you need to quickly know roles and companies (you don’t always know all the partecipants in advance). 3) It’s a useful reference when you have to use their name in the meeting. 4) Sometimes there are language barriers. 5) It’s a reference afterwards. 6) Shows your attention and respect (and that’s very important in many cultures).

Even in exhibitions, especially in “traditional” industries, business cards are a must and you often use them afterwards. And they not all speak English. And not all booths are peaceful places (hopefully).
